Steelers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Steelers want to find a better running game, but they must first put together the bumper cars to open up a path, and the loss of Willie Colon turns an already sub-par line worse.

Colon was placed on injured reserve July 21, a move that was expected ever since he sustained a season-ending Achilles tendon tear last month that was repaired with surgery. They quickly took a look at longtime Cowboys tackle Flozell Adams, who was finally signed July 29.

Adams' natural position is left tackle. If he doesn't replace Colon, he's expected to start on the left side, with Max Starks flipping to the right side.

Adrian Jones, a six-year veteran who played for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, also signed a one-year contract.

Steelers sign Tomlin through 2012, with option (AP)

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed coach Mike Tomlin to a two-year contract extension through the 2012 season, with an option year in 2013. The extension was expected because the Steelers' policy has been to sign a coach before he begins the final season of a contract.
